Application Notes
Directionality Check (Forward vs. Reverse): This is a “Forward” breakout cable. Ensure the SFF-8087 end is connected to the Host (RAID controller/HBA) and the 4x SATA ends are connected to the Target (Hard drives or backplane). It will not work in reverse.
Bend Radius Restrictions: High-speed twinaxial data cables are sensitive to tight bends. Maintain a minimum bend radius of at least 5 times the cable’s outer diameter near the connector boots to prevent internal pair skew.
Mechanical Latching: Always verify that the stainless-steel locking latch on the SFF-8087 plug “clicks” securely into the host controller receptacle to prevent accidental disconnects from server fan vibration.
Airflow Optimization: Bundle the four SATA legs utilizing provided cable ties or mesh sleeving to prevent obstructing the server’s cooling fans.
